Meet Shalini Latour
"I believe that cakes should be as delicious they are beautiful so I only use fresh ingredients, I don't freeze anything and I don't use mixes! I also only use real flavor, no essences or artificial flavor. Which means if your cake is strawberry it will have real strawberries in it, if it is lemon I will be juicing and grating the lemons."
Shalini has been baking from childhood under the tutelage of her European mother. She still uses her family's recipes going back to her great-grand mother. She then honed her skills in New York and in Cincinnati working in bakeries. In 2004 she published a step by step cake decorating book: The Icing On the Cake, North Light Books. She now bakes from her home kitchen and enjoys creating delicious and unique for each event.
